The results are in: the chocolate caramel cake was great! If you want a short cut to the from scratch, pick your favorite chocolate cake mix, or try a really rich chocolate cake mix, purchase chocolate icing (rich dark chocolate) and purchase ice cream caramel topping. From scratch takes a little longer, but I think box mixes will work just as well.
Make a two layer cake. Icing the bottom with frosting, then drizzle (I covered) it with caramel topping. Add top layer. Icing. Drizzle ( once again I covered it heavily with caramel) Top with Health pieces or finely chopped walnuts.
This is really rich.
