Making... Chocolate Caramel Cake

I am going to make a chocolate caramel cake. Maybe I will bring it this weekend to test it on the family before I try out with the students. Will let you know the results after the testing of the cake. By the way I am making the cake the old fashion way... from scratch... Think how rich it will be with the special dark cocoa by Hershey's, that caramel sauce and that dark chocolate homemade frosting!

Crock pot pizza

In class yesterday we made crock pot pizza. We modified it a bit and added some toppings we all like. It was really good tasting. It reminds me more of a lasagna than a pizza. For the recipe write me.

Weather for the weekend

Fright Fest is this weekend. Cold, balmy cold.... In the 30's cold... Are we nuts? Yeah, but we will have hot chocolate and a warm hotel room.

I have....

Adding New...

I have added some new recipe sites to the blog. I guess because I love to eat, and so do my students in health class, we keep finding new recipe sites. ENJOY!

Oh yeah ...

I feel like I really accomplished somethings at home this week. My list is getting much smaller. This makes me VERY happy.
About my list. I still have many things on it to get done. The weather has decided to turn very cool all of a sudden. I have things on there that are of the outdoors nature. I want it to warm up some, but not like it has been.

I think this weekend I am going with Austin and Devon to Fright Night at Kings Island. This will be a fun day. Just something different than the everyday doldrums. Plans are not set in stone yet.

Boxes

I have many shoe type decorative boxes that I want to get rid of. Any of my children need some? Let mom know soon or they will be gone to the rummage sale.

Daily goals

Each day I try and set a goal to reach. My long term goals seem harder if I don't break them down into littler tasks. So my short goals for this weekend are to get the back porch ready to paint, to clean out 3 closets, and to get the rummage sale toys to my mom's with the other rummage sale things, to get the rest of my school stuff to school and to take new pictures of the house for insurance purpose.
I don't know why those three closets get like they do. I guess because the grandchildren love the stuff that is in them.

Update: I have gotten one goal done so far today... On to tackle another goal!

I watch the show hoarders. I never want to get to that state. I have things that I hold onto, and I am not even sure why. I however do not have the problem of hoarding. Sometimes I get rid of things that I wish I hadn't. Oh well. That is life.

Another Labor Day....

On Saturday we went to the boat races in Kankakee, Sunday we went to a cookout at Casi and Shane's. The other guest were Shane's parents, his mom's mom, his brother Chad and his wife and son. We were out at the campfire until about 10:00. Funny how time goes by so quickly. On Monday we went to the UAW picnic in Fort Wayne, Ind. BUSY BUSY BUSY weekend. Nice to be home to just kick back and relax.
Dad and I had a great time visiting our children and their families.
Forgive me on the pictures. I didn't take any on Sunday and I have posted the pictures from the end of the day to the beginning of our day. Sorry, but just too tired to repost them. Have fun looking at them.
Ohhhh and I forgot to say that on Saturday we met our "granddaughter" from Sweden.

Boat Races 2010

HOOOONNNNGGGGG goes the warning. 1 minute til the race begins. Boats are lined up, their crews ready to pull the latch that starts the engine. And they are off. Emergency crews sit prepared to help if needed. Not this year so far. Only one boat starts to sink during the races and only one boat decides to flip. No injuries. No accidents. Wow!
It was very cold at the races this year. The temperature was in the 60's with wind gust of about 10 to 15 miles per hour, trees and shade along the viewing area. Cold, blanket weather. I thought winter had arrived early. Welcome Emilia to the Midwest of America.
Here are some of the pictures I took of the races and of the other fun. Hope you enjoy. Please remember the boats are traveling at an average speed of 123 mph plus wind. Some are a little blurry.

Oh how I wish we still had races here in my hometown. They were always fun to go watch. Come on city council, lets invite the boats back to race here again! We don't even have the hot air balloon races any more. What a boring town. More interest in the "looks" than in the people that vote and live here.
