The girls...

The girls popped by last night and informed us they were spending the night. They went outside, practiced some pitching and then came in, ate, helped with dishes and went up to their room. Got to love them.

Wow when.....

Wow, when will we get some "real" rain. It rains, it even poured down the other day, for about 10 minutes. Hope people who smoke are very careful... they could cause mass hurting of property if one of their cigarettes were tossed carelessly. There signs on different businesses doors asking people to be aware of fire hazard weather. After all we are under a burn ban right now. Shouldn't cigarettes count?

Practice.....

I have been practicing working on building a website.... Wow it is so much work. LOL. Love it!

Peaches....

Well the peaches will be here on Wednesday next week. Guess I had better get some canning jars and be ready to can. Maybe my great husband will go with me to take Lara and Chris theirs. Of course the best part will be visiting Miss K.

I spent ....

I have been spending a lot of time in the library searching records. I find little bits and pieces every now and them. My goal... read every edition of the papers at our local library and record the interesting things to write a book.

My it is getting dark outside.

I think we might actually get rain today. It is very cloudy and getting dark out. Hope it is a nice light rain that lasts for a very long time. No flooding, just enough to save the grass if it can, the trees and flowers. I think the crops are too far gone.

I have a list that is three legal pad pages long that I want to research.... Wow guess I need to go to the library and sit and sit and sit....

s'mores pizza

S'mores Pizza

for pizza dough
recipe from allrecipes

3 c. all-purpose flour
1 package active dry yeast
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp white sugar
1 c. warm water (110 degrees F)

for pizza toppings
1/2 tbsp butter, melted
1 tbsp sugar
4 graham crackers, crumbled
3 cups of mini marshmallows
15 fun sized Hershey's bars, broken into smaller pieces ( I used chocolate chips.

Preheat the oven to 375°F.

Combine flour, salt, sugar and yeast in a large bowl. Mix in oil and water. Kneed dough with your hands and roll out half of the dough on a pizza stone or baking sheet. I only used half of the pizza dough so if you want to use the entire dough then double the amount of pizza toppings.

Once the pizza dough is rolled out, brush melted butter on pizza dough and sprinkle pizza edges with sugar.  ( made dough a little larger and added chocolate chips in outside crust and wrapped like doing cheese stuffed.) Top pizza with graham cracker crumbs, chocolate pieces (chocolate chips), marshmallows. Bake pizza for 20 minutes. Eat right out of the oven!

Christmas in July....

I really wish Christmas was in July.... At least you would know you could get to spend time with  your family. Planning it around the weather sure is iffffy ....
So why not have a all out family Christmas in July and celebrate with your immediate family Christmas...
Wait that would mean you don't have to shop on Black Friday.... or at least doing less shopping on that day.

Katelyn

It doesn't seem possible, but we were getting ready for a baby shower this time last year.... Katelyn so wants to eat "big" people food. She is working hard at cutting her first tooth.
Lara calls at least once a day with a new Katelyn story.
How I remember those exciting times.

My oh my...

My oh my time seems to be flying by. I am getting behind on my posting. Okay so it is now July 22. This month is almost over. School will be starting for the grandkids in just a few weeks. Ball season is almost over... well not for a few more weeks.

I ask the Republican Party.....

I want to ask the Republican party.... Was your candidate born in America? His father was born in Mexico... so does that mean his son can't be president? I want to see his birth certificate. What else is he hiding.... MONEY! He has admitted he likes the tax breaks and the legal hiding of income.... something just doesn't seem right. How much of his money is going to his "Mexican" family? Wait, does that mean he is not American... wow.... research people.
Also do you really want a polygamist believing person in your white house? Wait that is the problem maybe we should paint it red or green or blue or some other color.... The republicans want a WHITE HOUSE!
So many poor politics going on on facebook... My republican friends never responded to this question.... just their own poor taste antics.... God Bless America.... we need to vote for NONE OF THE ABOVE....
especially when voting for congress!

I am trying to design my scrapbook pages for family history for Lara. So ... I want it to be super good so she can share it someday when I am long gone and in the ground. Too her great-grandchildren! LOL

I have only 600 more points to get another 100.00 from my swagbucks.... Woohoo. If you haven't signed up yet, scroll down, click on my link and go sign up. At first it seems that they go really slow, but once you get the hang of it.... wow do they accumulate quickly. Coupons, videos, surveys... games.... great recipes on the videos that show you how to do it...

today

Today my oldest nephew married for the second time. His new wife is a widow with two sons. It was a very nice wedding, nothing fancy, just "homey". In their vows my nephew remembered to mention my sister who passed away in 2000. She was his mother. It brought tears to many of our eyes. He said he knew his mother was watching today as the service began. Thank you Thomas for remembering your mother. She would be proud and I know she would love your new bride.

Okay ....

Okay they say one more day of this HEAT~ we will see.
I have only been outside once today... to go to the store and get bread. It was so hot you felt like you where frying. I know my air conditioning will be glad when this heat goes away. Only a break for a few days and then back in the 90s.  ugh. So glad I don't teach any more.

Just think...

Just think when I was a kid, we went to school no matter how hot it was... today they don't. We just opened the windows and prayed for a breeze. Sometimes the teachers had fans in the room.
Just think when I was a kid we didn't have air conditioning in our homes. Our home had two air conditioner window units... one for my mother's shop and one for our parents bedroom, which they only ran if it was in the day time and my father needed to sleep before going back to work. (He was on call 24/7)
Just think, we did not have air conditioning in our cars. Our first car with air was a 1964 red convertible. Dad would put the top down and we would ride with the air conditioning on.... What good did that do? Well mom kept cool.
Just think when I was a kid all the stores were closed on the 4th of July except the Liberty Market, which was only open til noon so people could pick the perfect watermelon from the big cement tank filled with ice. The owner would come and "plug" the melon you picked to make sure it was the one you wanted.
Just think when I was a kid we could get the best candy in the world for 1 cent. A bag full for a quarter.
Just think when I was a kid we played outside all day, mostly in the pool ~ we didn't sit and watch TV, play video games or have ipods.
Just think when I was a kid it was a treat to go to McDonald's to get french fries ~ nothing else, just the fries.
Just think when I was a kid we didn't have to use seat belts. We didn't even have seat belts. Your babies laid in a traveling basket in the seat besides you.
Just think when I was a kid we didn't have pens called bic  stick ... We used pens that you had to carry ink around and change the cartridge when it was empty... I remember those first bic stick pens.
Just think when I was a kid we had a special pen that had an indentation for your fingers and a long shaft that went from fat to thin.
Just think when I was a kid we didn't have color TV or cable. My dad watched his beloved Cubs through a "cloud" of static, while listening to WGN radio announce the games. When we got cable, dad watched ever game he could without static.
Just think a violent movie was when a gigantic gorilla attacked a city.
Just think when I was a kid you went to school unless there was 12 inches of snow on the ground.
Just think when I purchased my first car it didn't have an air conditioner because that cost more. I did pay for the radio though.
Just think when I first went to college, we didn't have computers to register us, we had to play cat and mouse with professors to get a card from them so we could be in their class and then went to the guidance office and hoped that they all fit into your schedule.

What will it be like for the students when they have to go back to school in August?

July 1

Wow it is the first of July. It seems like ever since I was on my trip tp Europe. I need to get some scrapbook pages done.
If I wasn't retired I would be feeling the pinch to get out and get things started in my classroom. Wow my sister will be feeling retired in just a few weeks.
It is so dry here I hope noone decides they need to set off bottle rockets or other forms of fireworks on the 4th of July. We will be having "wild" fires here.

My husband.....

My husband went to visit one of our daughters Friday and Saturday. He drove through some awful storms. So bad that he pulled over. It is very unusual for him to do that. I guess since one of our grandsons was with him he thought that would be the smart thing to do. When he arrived at our daughter's they did not hvae power. So they went fishing. They did not catch a single fish. It is just so hot, and most fish are at the bottom area trying to keep cool. Any way, they went back to the house and the power was back on. Our daughter even complained about it being hot.... well if you know her you know she wears a sweat shirt in in 100 degree weather.
